Please take a moment to fill out an attendee survey noting your prefered name, pronouns, arrival information, and some other information to help us prepare for the weekend.
Our retreat will be held at the University of Denver. There are 2 primary buildings we will be in on campus. Both buildings are next door to each other on the East side of campus.
Nagel Hall – The majority of our time will be here. Lodging is in this hall as well as the room (102) we will be meeting in for Saturday and Sunday sessions. The address is 2155 South Race Street.
Nelson Dining Hall – Saturday and Sunday Breakfasts from 7:15 a.m. to 8 a.m. (I know it’s early, but these are the University’s summer breakfast hours!)
Arrival & Friday schedule
Upon arrival in Denver on Friday afternoon/evening, you will want to proceed to Nagel Hall. This is where you can check-in and get your room information. Check in runs from 3-5:30. If you arrive after 5:30 you can come to Classroom 102 in Nagel for the start of our evening session. We will have dinner at 6 p.m. and go until about 9 p.m. Individuals who have not yet checked in can do so at 9 p.m. We will then show a film in room 102.
If you’re arriving later than 9 p.m. please call or text me at 850-218-1265 and I will be sure to meet you with a key.
Getting to Campus
Denver International Airport is 30 miles from the University of Denver campus. You can get there using public transit, ride sharing or driving.
Denver has a Light Rail system and Bus system that can get you to the university. The commute is just over an hour and will require a transfer. The ticket cost is $9 from the airport to the university, regardless of if you take the train or bus. Plan your route at online through their website. Once you get off at the University of Denver Station it is a 0.7 mile walk through campus to Craig Hall where we are meeting.
If you do ride sharing it is a 45 min drive depending on traffic. A lyft line or uber pool is around $30 and a 4 person Lyft or UberX is $50. Have them take you to Craig Hall, 2148 South High Street.
If driving to the venue, there is parking onsite. Parking has to be paid at the front desk of Nagel Hall upon arrival in cash. We believe it’s $8 per day — still waiting for details about this.
Meals are part of your attendance at the conference. Dinner on Friday will be at 6 p.m. to start the retreat. Saturday & Sunday Breakfasts will take place in Nelson Dining Hall between 7:15 and 8 a.m. Saturday lunch will be a break in the program for the day and be in the same space we are meeting. Dinner will be at the close of the day followed by evening activities to be determined (take the survey to give your input!). We will close the retreat with Sunday lunch at 12 p.m.
Rooming has been assigned based on preferences. I will be emailing each person individually with their rooming assignment.
Be comfortable! Averages in Denver for July are highs in the low 90s and lows in the 60s. Of course — check the forecast! A light sweater for the classroom or evenings is recommended.
We will not be having a Mass as part of our retreat weekend. We do encourage you if your travel allows to join Dignity Denver for mass at 5 p.m. on Sunday. If you are wanting to do this please make note in the form and we can help arrange transport for you. Dignity Denver members have graciously offered to help and welcome anyone who can join them for Mass!
You may want to bring a journal or notebook and a pen for taking notes and for personal reflection time. We will have some pens and paper but you are encouraged to bring your own journal if you have one.
